Welcome to Forney Wellness Medical!  We are an integrative internal medicine practice and we’re excited to have you as a potential patient.

ForneyWellnessOur practitioners, Dr. Cory Rice and Dr. Carol Villanueva, are board certified in internal medicine and treat a wide variety of health concerns and chronic diseases by using a functional/lifestyle medicine approach to patient care.  Their mission is to restore your health by finding and treating the root cause of your medical problems as opposed to placating your symptoms with prescription pills.  Contrary to traditional medicine, their treatment is focused on you as a whole person, not just one isolated part related to one particular disease or symptom.  They use both comprehensive diagnostic testing and detailed patient evaluations to provide personalized treatment plans for your specific needs.  Working with our certified health coach, Ashley Howell, is also an integral part of the treatment provided by our doctors.  She is an expert in nutrition and wellness counseling and provides the education and professional support necessary to help the doctors treatment plans work.

Our goal at Forney Wellness is to give you the knowledge, the tools, and the support necessary to restore your health.  Our practitioners and professional staff are here as advocates in your personal journey to optimal health and wellness!

For your benefit as a potential patient, we require you to attend one of our new patient orientations (held every Tuesday evening from 5:30 -6:30pm and one Saturday per month from 9:00-10am) before scheduling your first appointment.  This provides an opportunity for you to meet one of the providers, ask questions and make sure that our practice is a good fit for you before establishing care!  Call the front desk at 972-552-2920 to reserve a seat.  We care about your health and look forward to seeing you!

What is functional and lifestyle medicine?

Functional medicine is the method of finding and treating the root cause of chronic disease.  It is a patient-centered model of health care meaning; treatment is focused on the whole person, not just one specific part related to one particular disease or symptom.  Lifestyle medicine is the method of using lifestyle intervention, or “therapeutic lifestyle change”, to prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic disease.
